Mounting screws Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Please scroll down to check out the pics of the lug I need.....the snare may be a 6ply because the screws are about 7/8 " long. I thought it was always a 3ply. Although it is a 6.5 x 15 snare......this may be why?!? This was my original post, not to cause confusion.

Hi Mikey......the snare drum is a LUDWIG 154xxxx....I think 75'? It is a three ply shell. The screws look like they are galvanized. They are about 7/8 of an inch long, and have a "star lock" washer, plus a regular washer on each screw. I can send a pic if it helps. I find it difficult to post pics here because I have to continually shrink my photos to post........Thanks so much for the response...hope all is well with you:)

Yes do send me a photo to my email..If the shells are from the 70's and three ply the screws should be about 1/4'' long end to end..Mikey

Hey Mikey.....I will send you a pic when I have a chance. I even believe that the actual lug is stripped on the inside. I may need a lug also. Thanks.;)

that screw is usually used on the metal snares w/ a cup washer. the screws ludwig used on wood shells are different but the same 8/32 threading. that's why it fits in the lug.

i'm out of new ludwig screws but have vintage screws. but you might wanna try taping out the lug. that usually works. if not i'm sure mikey will hook you up.

Hi.....this snare is a 75 or 76, and all original. It is huge and unusual, being 15 x 6.5. Maybe that's why they used these screws? I would like to use vintage screws. I also believe that the lug is stripped. Basically I am looking for a vintage lug and set of mounting screws that match.

The mounting screw in the photo is used on a metal shell snare drum with a cup washer as Drummerfish states.Ludwig used the same screw on the wood shells but it has a washer on it.Is all the screws on the snare like the one you posted with out the washer?..I have both types of screws with and with out the washers..Just let me know what ones you need i also have the lug's that you need...Mikey

Hey Mikey.........the screw in the photo is missing the extra washer. The original screw has a "star lock" washer as in the pic, plus a regular washer which I removed. These screws with a star lock washer, plus a regular washer are all used on my snare. They are all original. As I stated before, it is an unusual snare. It is a believe a 1977 LUDWIG, b/o # 154xxxx and is a rare size........15x6.5. If you have a couple of lugs and some screws that match, I could use some spares. Let me know what you think is fair and I will be happy to oblige. Thanks...Cool Dude
