Sorry to start a new thread but here are some better pics of my recent find. Does anyone here know much about the wrap?

Gretsch had it made for their 75th Anniversary (1958). However, it was decided on too late....or whatever....to make it into the 58 catalog. From what I read it was not a big hit back then but the wrap was used for a few years after 58......to use up the stock I'm assuming. I don't think it is that common but it is sought after by some these days. It's a nice finish.

Just curious....does yours have 'gold' sparkles? Some folks have stated that the gold sparkles in this/my 'old' finish is from wear...many hours of playing in smoke-filled clubs. Gretsch, however; says the sparkles are gold.....not silver. I've only seen one Anniversary Sparkle drum....mine....and the sparkles are gold.

True! I looked at completed auctions but because the wrap is rare there is not one to reference. I am probably going to hang on to them for a while until I find something that could replace it. Oh, on a side note I ran into a nice older guy who has an early Ludwig snare in THC!
