My Avacado Strata Ludwigs... ;)aka...Oyster Black Pearl Last viewed: 3 hours ago

So the other night, like many other nights, I fell asleep with the laptop on my chest..for some reason, I woke up...realized my chest and stomach was hot from the battery of the computer. I checked my email, and got one I had been waiting for...so it perked me up a little...so I went on eBay and did my usual recently listed Ludwig search when the newest listing pops up saying Ludwig Avacado Strata...64-68. So I'm thinking Ludwig Standard, but I don't click on it and there is no picture yet....so, I'm scrolling and searching and I just decide to go back to it and click on it...I really thought I was just sleepy and my brain wasn't working right....but when I look at the pictures and see the Oyster Black Pearl snare I just hit the buy-it-now, contacted them and drove from Central Mass to Long Island NY the next morning. The 22,13,16 need some cleaning and has a couple of small issues(nothing like a pearl mount)...but the snare is nearly perfect. I took it all apart and the thing is absolutely beautiful. Pre-serial number date and stamped Feb 8th 1963(red ink)....throw-off badge and muffler are on three consecutive panels and everything is there right down to the last washer. Color is Bright and vibrant. I had 2 of these years ago that I should have never sold and told my wife I would find another one....anyway, it was a tiring but great weekend. Here's the link to the auction....I'll post pics of the clean up process soon.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
