Hey Gents.....I have three player snare stands that I keep circulating with the same annoying problem. The basket on two of them wants to spin around as I'm playing and the basket on another wants to slacken down on an angle, and fall towards me as I'm playing. Besides taking a wrench to them & heaving right down on the bolts, does anybody have any solutions on how to fix this probably common issue?Help2
My Battle with my snare stands!?!?! Last viewed: 19 hours ago
Simple solution: Buy yourself a 700 series Yamaha snare stand. They're inexpensive.

What brand of stand??
Two vintage 70's ATLAS stands & an 80's Pearl double braced session series stand.
Sounds like the Pearl's toothed tilter has had it, most likely no fixing that one. As far as the Atlas stands, do yours have the large T handle nuts or just regular wing nuts for the tilter? If just regular wing nuts, try and search ebay for the later T style nuts as they offer more leverage for tightening down, and should help against the slipping you are having.
And in regards to going with a Yamaha 700 series stand, while it is a nice affordable stand (I do own one myself), the tilter mechanism is nearly identical to the Atlas stands, and there would be no benefit going to the Yamaha in this case as it will ultimately have the same issues.
Thanks Gents.....I think I may go out tomorrow to buy a new ATLAS "pro series" snare stand.....a little pricey, but worth the reliability.Mind Blowi

I've had mine since '97 and it is still 100% sturdy - has never slipped. I guess I just don't sit on mine often enough. Maybe I need to wait another 15 years, then proclaim it's reliable integrity......
