My dad behind his first kit (1940 ish) Last viewed: 1 minute ago

My dad passed away last week at age 89, he suffered during the last few months and it was tough, now that he is at rest, my brother and I have been going through his stuff and we ran acorss this picture of him behind this kit, (WFL or Ludwig perhaps) we also found articles of him when he played in a big band. sadly, we have no idea where this kit is anymore, or the Rogers kit after that, or the Gretsch after that (but we know where the Slingerland kit is, my house) anyway, thanks to John to cleaning up the pic and resizing it.

we also can't find any of the autographs dad had of him and Krupa, who he got to know through Roy Knapp in Chicago.

Lots of Slingerland drums

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

That's a Classsic photo! I was very happy to help. As I told you earlier, pictures such as the one of your dad are like a window into another time. Photos freeze styles, and the people of the time, things that would be lost forever if not for few faded photographs.

Thanks for sharing with us.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

So sorry for the loss of your father. But, isn't it great to have had a father that was a musician. That's such a good photograph, too.
