Yes, that is a common location for the mount. The half that is mounted on the drum is American-made Kent part. However, the ratchet piece is Japanese.

Mookie, here's how it looks on the tom holder. Check out the crazy, heavy duty mufflers. The're on all three toms. Rich.
I think they only made these for a few months in 68'. Probably not many survived. Rich.
Those WMP's are cool! Thanks for the shot confirming my drums mount and location. Very helpful. I guess '68 must've been close to end of US mad drums; did they make both styles at the same time, or change to the coffin lugs, then go offshore?
They made both styes at the same time .
I have NEVER seen that strainer before-on ANY kind of drum!
That is what came on the coffin lug Kent drums .
