My First Slingys!!! Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Welcome to the Slingy club, best sounding drums on the planet! Nice little project should turn out great. I don't think you overpaid at all, the 14x14 is worth most of that price. I'd maybe look for a new rack tom, but otherwise looks like it'll clean up real nice.

Nice acquisition. I really like that color. Can you measure the original hole spacing in the mounted tom? That will help you know if it is indeed a Slingerland shell. It probably is though. It is not unusual to convert concert toms into double headed toms. Usually that is done by adding a lower set of lugs and cutting a bottom bearing edge if there is not one already. A lot of the earlier concert toms had a bottom edge and in the case of Slingerland, this edge was protected by a trim ring. Converting a concert tom to a center lug tom is less common and, as you can see, required more effort. I really like Slingerland drums and I am also quite fond of stick saver hoops. Enjoy!!

I measured the original concert tom hole spacing at 1.75" from center to center. Does that match up?

As vintagemore2000 indicated, the bottom ring's bearing edge matches the top.

Still not sure why the ft doesn't have a vent hole, but that won't keep me up at night:)

I love my Slingerland snare and can't wait get this baby ready. I think I'll disassemble one shell at a time and give each piece a proper polishing before putting on new skins.

Thanks tnsquint!

Thanks, deadhead! I'm thrilled to finally be in the club.Walking

I think the red sparkle on the toms will look really cool with the faded to orange sparkle on the bass & tom...no chance i'll rewrap.

Thanks again,

Brian
