i scored this kit from a friend that owed me some money !!! not nearly as much money as it is worth ,but he was happy and obviously so was i . i bought cymbals and hunted down original WFL stands etc.etc. stands are the flat bottom leg type and all have WFL stamps in em! it is a 22x14 bass 16x16 floor tom 13x9 tom and it had a mint rogers WMP powertone snare with it !! i bought aqaurian batters and clear bottoms for everything inluding the bass but used a plain no logo aquarian vintage style bass front skin and just ordered a 6" vintage script Ludwig decal for the front . i had a buddy clean it all up and tune it and it sounds killer !!!!

Now the kicker is i DON'T play drums !! i barely play guitar but if im gonna spend time teaching myself anything it will be guitar . i don't need the money and i'm sure i will love the way these look in my music room however , i can score a cool silver sparkle much newer and less valuable gretsch kit for a lot less than i could get for this one !!! and that would look just as cool sitting in my music room to me !!

so i've seen these rogers snares sell for stupid money all by themselves so i would let the kit go with or without it and as far as the cymbals they will go with it (all Zildjian ZBT) ((not in pic)) 18" crash/ride , 16" crash and 13" hi-hats , the hi hat stand is WFL and has the WFL speed king pedal and the bass drum kick pedal is a WFL speed king as well (not in pics) the snare stand is WFL stamped flat leg type . all hardware is original and in pretty nice shape the claws on the rear of the bass are pitted and slightly rusty but the front claws and hardware are nice . the rear hoop is missing the inlay !!! . there is some really cool patina on the kit . it is cleaned up pretty nice but there is some yellowing ( which i think adds to the look if anything , but i have a thing for old cars ,bikes, and vintage guitars and amps so the patina has it's place for sure to me ) .

i'm not gonna give this set away and again i do not need to sell it , i just know there are DRUMMERS out there that will appreciate this kit for what it is and how it sounds so letting it sit in my music room unplayed is a shame! i have seen the ebay auctions from 1500 to 4000. for kits no more complete and no nicer than this one !!! i do not think this is a 4k kit but i know damn well it isn't only a 1500 dollar kit . i've got some money wrapped up in the heads , cymbals , stands , pedals, etc etc and the shells were payment on a debt that wasn't a big debt so i am in the kit right . again a reason i don't need to sell .

if you are looking for this specific kit and want to make me a real serious offer let me know . i will take another kit in trade as long as it has a kool flake or sparkle finish (again this is to look at and beat on once in a while) rogers , gretsch , slingerland , etc etc. would also consider an early to mid 70's les paul or nice SG and some cash , also consider a vintage hollow body electric ,gretsch or ibanez or gibson plus some cash. would also consider a 70's reissue of the 52 black guard telecaster USA only on this one!!

jp. your kit the way it sits as it is now, you'd be better off to sale the Rogers powertone seperately from the WFL kit since it doesn't belong with it to start with. your kit with the 3 drums and the issues it has, the hardware and the cheap zildjian ZBT's, would fetch probably $1200.00 the snare drum will off set this some also you have the sizes wrong the floor tom would be a 16x16" and the mounted tom is a 9x13". A trade for a 70's Lp? you would have to pony up some cash for one they sale in the $3000.00+ range your kit isn't no where close to that. I'm a huge WFL fan I own 3 kits, So not trying to short change you just giving you the truth.

you are definitely right on the sizes and i appreciate your input , to value it i was only going on ebay auctions i have been watching daily over the last 8 months or so !!! some sold and some with no bids at all and taking an average . none of those kits sold with cymbals at all or stands so i figured mine worth more , since the stands alone are over 100 a piece in most auctions . i also understand Ebay is not the most accurate place to value things from but sold auctions are just that and if something sells a bunch of times on ebay for a certain amount i'm sure i can get the same amount for a very similar item!! and mid 70's les pauls are available way under 3k as well i have passed on at least a half dozen in the last year that i could have bought under 1800.00 for one reason or another . if i'm ponying up cash i am specifically looking for a 75 0r 76 tobacco burst deluxe with nickel hardware instead of the gold or a 79 or 80 silverburst only but on trade i would be more open to whatever in those years . again i appreciate your input and mean no disrespect in bantering back but i'm not sure why a kit with less parts and some no where near period correct parts sells for at least 1500 on ebay but mine is only worth 12 , hell i paid 50 each for the WFL speedking pedals instead of just using the ludwig script pedals i had here cause i figured it meant something to someone!! i wish i still had all of the speedking pedals i cut up to make throttle pedals in hot rods and floorboards for custom motorcycles . i just bought the cheap cymbals so as it sits here it is playable but i wasn't looking to add to the value of the kit with the brass.

is there a solid go to guide out there anywhere that has pricing on these old kits!!!

jp, yeah it would be great to have a source of pricing as to say something like Vintage Guitar Magazine does in every Issue with their pricing guide! And yeah your correct on the Lp pricing I was just using the high side also. On the pricing of the WFL kit They are your drums and you can of course ask whatever you see fit for them. the 1400 cymbal stands do bring in the $100.00 range that's correct, the hihat stand depending on which model it is can bring in the $100.00 + range, the WFl speed king commands no higher or lower price than the ludwig foot board model. the replacement rim strip will be a major pain to match to the color of the drums. but there are only 3 drums, and the hardware, sale the snare separate and the ZBT's seperately. this is a tough market now. you can look in the for sale section here on the forum there are similar kits their now for sale look at their pricing. hope this helps good luck.

A heckuva first post.

You might consider setting a price and see if you have any takers, keeping in mind where you are.... a vintage drum forum with a lot of history/price-wise members.
