Hey there folks, just thought i'd post some pics of our first gig

with the Paul McCartney Tribute band this past Friday at the

Montreal Casino Cabaret, as well as my newly acquired late 70's 6 ply Ludwig Big Beat kit in black cortex.

2 days before the gig, and after meticulously detailing and cleaning the kit and all hardware,

the new model 2" thick, vintage style bass drum spur bracket gets threaded, and i can't tighten the spur

anymore.. At this point i don't if it's the actual wing nut screw or bracket that's threaded out..

Extremely frustrating.. This is the second time any new old classic style hardware piece breaks down on me.:mad:

Thank the Lord i had a pair of DW clip on spurs, or else i would've really been screwed, pun intended ! LoLoLoLo

Whatever the case, we had a great time and it was a fun show..We had our family and friends attend and support us, and for this we're extremely grateful. There are still some kinks to work out, but that'll come with a few more

rehearsals and gigs.. Hope you enjoy them ! My apologies for the crooked pic of my kit !

I can't count how many times I've seen stripped-out Ludwig cast hardware. Spurs and the BD tom mount bolt.Cymbal stand tilters. FT leg mounts.

Hi Mark--

No we didn't , but we did play songs from that show, and of course

Beatles tunes that Paul sang. We're basically doing the type of show

Paul has been doing for the past 15 years or so..Certain songs will always be omitted or played, depending on the gig, the size of venue, etc..

This is entirely up to the singer who plays Paul, but he always asks for our input with song selection. He has zero ego, is a very calm and outgoing individual, and 100% professional in all aspects, something that

makes me very happy !Yes Sir..

Hi Hoppy--

Yes it was an awesome place to play ! Soundman was great, although

the promoter hired a very inexperienced monitor guy, who was still a little green, in his mid 20's..

But i guess we all have to learn sometime, right ?Yes Sir The only unprofessional thing with this kid

was that he did lose his cool at times, and really wasn't paying attention to detail, something which

is extremely important in this type of situation, and with the scale of this particular gig..

He was cool at the end of the gig and apologized for his demeanor.. All's well that ends well i guess. Cool1

Hey teverson-sr,

Yeah man, extremely frustrating..:mad: All i need now is either the wing nut, or the bracket, but these parts are very hard to locate at times.. I'll be posting in the "Wanted " section and see if there is in anyone with something to spare..

Hi Dan -- Thanks for cleaning that up for me ! LoLoLoLo. I tried

rotating the pic one more time clockwise while editing the pic but it didn't work.

I'm usually computer savvy when it comes to these small details, but i guess i missed it this time ! :p

Sweet set of drums, enjoy them. I gigged the identical kit all through the late 80's and early 90's. Heavy to lug around because of the cortex, but they sound so great it makes the extra work worth while. I loved mine.
