I'm looking for some help identifying and dating my Rogers drum set. I bought it used 15 years ago for around $100. I play and record with it once in a while. I never really gave much thought to it being vintage or valuable.
Recently I started researching it; and based on the logo badge and hardware I'm thinking that it's from the mid 60s.
It has the beavertail lugs, and the script logo badge, also the floor tom legs look right.
The serial number on the floor tom is 43857, and the label says made in USA, but it doesn't have a model. The kick and rack tom have unfortunately been spray painted black on the inside (including the serial number label and hardware)!!! I tried to remove the black paint from the serial number label on the 12" tom, and it started to come off, but so did the writing on the label :(
The previous owner (with the great spray painting ideal) also removed the front lugs and hoop from the kick. I replaced them with whatever they had lying around at the store. I also added spurs (bad job by me, making new holes in the drum)
Another bad job by me....I threw away the 12" tom ten years ago!!! I used all the lugs from it to replace the broken ones on the 13" and 16" toms. Im kicking myself now. I've always just played it as a 4 piece with my vintage Slingerland snare. Wish it was still a 5 piece.
Anyway.... can someone tell me what year these might be, and what model?
I'd love to know what they might be worth in their condition. I have no intention of selling them, but if they're valuable I might look into restoring the correct hardware.
Thanks,
Steve
