My Vistalite journey (TAKE TWO) Last viewed: 5 minutes ago

From Slingerlad

Flashback : 1988Evil Salesman pulls off a lug."You see those spider cracks, there ? See, eventually they will creep past the lugs and the shell is worthless. You might as well just sell us the whole kit now and cut your losses .."

Yikes!

My Vistalite snare has a crack that has been fixed (as noted in earlier post), my two double-headed toms both seem to have not-so-perfectly-clear interiors that look almost "frosted" for lack of a better word (years of poor storage?), my bass drum is a bit scuffed due to the tom holder not always strongly keeping the rack toms from scratching the top. And I used a hoop from my old 6-lug budget snare drum for the reso end of my 14x10 tom.

But I'm happy with the overall vibe and don't mind a bit of "road wear" look.

Decided to do some reconfiguring a couple of days ago...took out the bass drum tom holder again (it doesn't lock into place very well) and put the 12 inch tom on a mount attached to a crash cymbal stand, so that I could close up the distances overall between all four toms.

Also put on a Fiberskyn Ambassador on the snare and I like the mixture of openness, snare sound, and quick overtones that I get out of it right now.
