I'm new here but did some extensive searching and have come up with nothing to ID this mystery marching drum.
It's 16x9. Strainer looks to be 30s Leedy. But maybe not original to the drum? Not sure (there are some extra holes). Heads are Leedy goat or calfskin. Haven't seen any tension rods like this though. And the shell has no badges or markings.
Can anyone ID and / or date this? Any info would be very much appreciated!

Eye BallLooks like it might have sat in some water at some point. How do the plys look?
Player52 - I agree it looks like water damage.
Came into my hands dry though...haha. Ply on the inside has cracked a bit as a result. You can kinda see it in the photo. The splitting around the edge is actually just some separation of the two layers of the reinforcement hoop though.
With the water damage and all maybe this is a good project or parts drum for someone?

Hmm, I don't know about this being a Leedy. Check out the grain of the wood, looks like Luan to me, and those re-rings are kinda funky. I have a drum with the same interior, exept It's maple with an outer ply of Luan, and it has the same re-rings. No bearing edges, just flat wood, and pretty much everything is held together by little nails. Don't look like no Leddy to me...but it's a very nice drum. Garsh, It's to bad about the water damage:(, it could've been fixed up nicely, thats a nice size.
Incidentally, if there is anyone interested in actually playing this drum, it sounds fantastic. And for what it's worth I had one of those 60s Japanese sparkle kits in similar shell condition some years back. It held up to years of punk rock gigging and is still being pounded by a friend of mine.
I'd keep it but its just not practical to incorporate into my set...and my girlfriend has but a ban on any more drums entering the apartment. Haha.

I agree Kevins and myself where discussing your drum last night and came to the same conclusion, here are some pics of a 12x16" that I own, here is what it's suppose to look like inside!
I never got around to looking at the inside shot till now..but,I have seen some VERY old drums that look like that inside,and that Leedy strainer goes back to Indy time,doesn't it?
And,the primitive claws etc.......
I have that same strainer on 2 what I believe to be early 20s drums. One of them could be older than 20s. I have a drum from the early 1900s that has the same hoop claws. I think this drum is older than originally dated.
hmm...30s was a guess on the strainer based on the other drums i saw on the forum, etc. anyone know what period that strainer was used? or the claws?
the shell may remain a mystery...unless anyone else has one like it...or we can assume it to be all original based on the other parts...
