I just purchased this snare and am not sure exactly what it is. I have only this one vague picture and an even more vague description from the seller. He says he does not know what it is and that there is no badge. It looks to me like a Leedy Reliance from the 20's or so. I can tell that the top claws have been replaced but everything else seems ok. What do you guys think?

The throw off is Ludwig.

It probably is a replacement strainer. Or does it appear to be age appropriate thus making it a Ludwig Universal?

I just got this pic from the seller. It is definitely not the original strainer.

The pointy bead on the shell indicates a Slingerland drum...a lower end model from the '30s. It had a flimsy 4 pt. throwoff that was replaced with the Ludwig.

Is that Ludwig throw a Pioneer?

The drum is a Slingerland Universal with a Ludwig "professional" strainer.

Thanks guys. I do not see any Slingerland Universal's snares with badges. Is that correct?

Yes, it wouldn't have a badge. It would have said Slingerland on the throwoff.
