Hey DrumBob: are those Ayax you are refering to the New Sound models? I think those are the one you are talking about. Yeah! Those are wild!

This is a tough question for me personally, but I have to go nostalgic;
I have one drum left from my first drumset- a 3-pc kit made up of two Premier drums (didn't know it at the time) and a round badge, 8-lug Gretsch snare that I just loved. THey were all wrapped in a matching gold-sparkle-black-background, although I should say the sparkles were really large, square, confetti-like pieces that I have yet to see anywhere.
I traded the snare to a former Berklee drum instructor who clearly knew what I was holding onto. I still have the 10-lug, black-stained stop sign badge snare that he traded me for, but it's just not the same. As I hold on to my last remaining piece (the 12" tom), I often wonder what the hell I'm doing with it. I used to entertain the idea of building a kit around the single tom, but trying to find the matching wrap has been impossible (...for me).
I wish I had that kit back, especially an all Gretsch version, or even an all Premier version.

I don't know what they were called, but the wrap was a burgundy oyster pearl and the drums were definitely 60's. I saw it a book I have about vintage drums that was printed in England. Kent had the same wrap. There's a Kent snare up on Fleabay right now in that finish. That finish is killer. I wish someone would reproduce it, along with Mardi Gras, Fiesta, and Capri.
One of these, please! Paice out.
