My final point on this and then I'll be quiet.
I once bought a silver sparkle Club Date kit off the "Bay" for full price, at that time $750. the seller said it was all pristine. Being an inexperiened buyer at the time, I thought I was purchasing a bonified vintage drum kit in its original unmolested state.
When the box arrived and all was unpacked, I took the heads off and sure as s*** the 12" tom and the Bass had been re-wrapped. I'm still trying to find a matching Club Date 12" tom for that kit! The re-wrap job was badly done.
I purchased a matching "Unmolested" 20" shell and changed all the hardware out. Fortunately the 14" floor tom was nice. The seller was forced to rebate me $100 under threat of misrepresentation.
Vintage drums are a specialized product and market as is any vintage item that is sold in any vintage market place. "Buyer beware". There so many fakes and molestations that are not disclosed.
RocknFusion is not being accused here as his photo does reveal the truth in his bass drum, which I'm sure was his intention. When a seller fully discloses changes to drum shells from its original state (in writing), whether a re-wrap or a drill hole fix it adds to the seller's integrity and reputation and keeps the buyers trusting and happy.
So, all that RocknFusion has to do to make everyone pleased with his ad is go back and revise it to include a written disclosure of his knowledge of changes to the bass shell. Very simple, good business practice and the community rejoices!
Cheers!
