Hey

Spending the weekend on top of a mountain. Decided to wander down and check out one of the local towns. Stumbled on to a neat little music shop. Picked up a neat old Reuther kit with extras. Besides all the hardware, it came with a nice Ghost pedal and a neat 70s Ludwig Supra. It also came with two of the more fascinating cymbals I've come across in a long time. They are almost black from the filth (no, they are not Jack's line). I'll check them out closer when I make it home. They have the very distinctive Zildjian characteristics. Even with the mile thick dirt, they sounded sweet. They measure about 18 and 14, but I could be wrong. I just eyeballed 'em in the store. I plan on totally working the kit. I'll do that in another thread. When I get back to the world, I'll post pics.

After a very rough recovery in the hospital, I'm back at work and can update the pics.

This is the 19 inch cymbal. It is too dirty to pick up any markings at this time. I will clean the sludge off and see what I can see. Even with all the gunk, it has a very nice sound.

This is the 14 inch cymbal. It's also gunked over. I cannot see any markings due to the filth. I will clean it up and see what's under it. It too has a nice sound.

My plan is to remove the torn up wrap and sand them smooth. I will then remove the lower lugs and plug the holes. I want this to be a concert tom setup for my nephews. It will be much easier for them to keep tuned up. Once they are plugged and sanded, I will rattle can seal them. Then, I will put on a nice red sparkle from a rattle can on the inside and outside. After that, I will seal them again with a rattle can. When I'm done, they should look and sound pretty cool for a couple of new young students. Neato mosquito.

No ideas about the cymbals. I will clean them up and see what the heck is under all that gunk. They sound pretty nice as is, but they are so filthy, they dirt comes off on your hands. It's gross.

The Luddy Supra will clean up nicely. That should be a neat little snare. The chrome looks pretty good. I will most likely sell it.

The Ghost pedal is in pretty good shape. I'm going to keep that one with the kit for the kiddos to use. They should do pretty good with it.

I will need a MIJ wood snare for this kit that I can rattle can to match.
