Need advice on upcoming Rogers/Slingy purchase Last viewed: 35 minutes ago

I went and looked at a set of mid to late 70's Slingerlands in blackrome finish. It was a 12, 13, 16, 20 set up in pretty good condition and not missing anything. But truthfully the set isn't what I really want. Included in the sale is a very low serial number Rogers Dynasonic (#4657), a pre serial numer Paiste 602 20" ride, Slingerland 5x14 10 lug sound king snare, a modern Axis bass pedal, and all the slingerland stands in great condition Excited. The two snares need some cleaning, but don't seem to have any overall issues. The slingy snare's zoomatic strainer is missing the tension dial. But that's the only problem I can see. There are a few 60's Zildjian A's - crash and hats. Plus it comes with cases for everything and I'm sure I missing something in this list.

He wants $500 for it all. More than I want to spend, but I would love to get the 2 snares and 602 but it's buy all or none. And he won't go lower than 500.

Does this seem too much or is it worth the 3 things I want? I'd probably just sell the set...don't need another.

I know, I know. I guess I just needed a little extra verification. I really want it, but always get nervous about shelling out more money....especially with a baby on the way. I figure I can keep what I want and sell off the rest to make my money back. But that's hard to explain to my wife.

I wish you the best. It is not an enviable position, to say the least. Before you make your move, make sure your feet are firmly planted on the correct path. There are life variables that we are not privy to, so good luck. Maybe some of the gents here can use you as a broker and you could sell direct. Just a thought.

Hopefully you have it before he reads this and finds out the Dynasonic could be worth 500 by itself.

I would have bought the lot, and begged forgiveness.

Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. I've used that axiom at work more than once.
