Need help identifying a early to mid 2000's Ludwig kit Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Not quite vintage enough (yet), but I seem to be having some difficulty locating the correct product name of a recent acquisition of Ludwigs. The drums are 12 x 8" tom, 14" x 14" floor tom and a 22" x 16" bass drum. They are all the 6 ply maple classic drums from what I can tell, but what throws me is that the bass drum hoops are black with a red sparkle inlay to match the drums. I thought all drums of the early to mid-2000's came with either all black hoops or hoops with color to match wood finished shells. These drums have the larger classic lugs, not the mini-classics, and have the keystone Monroe NC badges. Any info on what this configuration is called would be great.

How about referring to a mid 2000's Ludwig catalogue to see what these are, what the configuration is referred to and if they came with inlays in the hoops? I don't have such catalogues. I have 80's catalogues and could look those up from that era.

At that time you could order whatever you wanted as far as sizes and such. The larger "traditional" sized lugs were an option on any drum that they would fit on. I'm not sure about the availability of inlayed hoops directly from Ludwig but I do know of folks who had aftermarket hoops made with an inlay.

I don't have any of the catalogs handy from that era (although I'm not sure there even was a proper large format catalog being done prior to about 7-8 years ago) but I think most of their upper line output was being done on an "as-ordered" basis rather than a bunch of standard "named" catalog configurations. Although there were some like the "Fab-4" (which was 13/16/22 I believe).

A lot was possible with Ludwig in the early to mid 2000`s, How about a pic so we can see what they did. It`s easier to sort out the variables with a pic of the kit in question.

I was able to get my questions answered completely on another forum. Ludwig did in fact offer inlay hoops after 2006 or so. I think I provided more than enough info without photos to identify these further.
