Need help identifying Vintage Leedy Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hi all! I'm new to this forum and am hoping that someone can help me with some background (and maybe pricing) on my Leedy Drum. I'm not really looking to sell it at this time, but I'm having trouble identifying it.

I don't know that much about drums, but I picked up this Leedy at an auction because I really liked its style. I started reading up on Leedy, but I'm still having trouble figuring out when it was made (can't find the badge anywhere online) and other general info about it. Would also like to know what it might be worth, but am really just curious to find out exactly what I have.

Aside from the Leedy badge, there is a fading stamp on the back skin that says "Hardwhite Leedy" (it was kinda hard to photograph, since most of the text is faded). I've also tried looking up "Nick Bestor's Club Band" online and haven't come up with any info on that. I haven't been able to find any other identifying badges or stamps on the drum.

The drum has a bunch of wear and tear, mostly around the wood rims, but for a vintage drum, it seems like it's still in OK shape.

Badge tell it from 20's. its value ? look kind or worn and repainted this brings value down I would say in $150.00 marker as price value.

Thanks for the info cuquito717. Might you have any recommendations on how to clean a vintage drum like this one. I've seen different suggestions online, but I want to make sure I use the right stuff so I don't ruin anything.

To Clean it up I first recommend use a citric base paint Remover, get that red out. The wood under there should look nice, it looks nice and even in photos. If not sand paper and a little work should bring it back to life. The lugs Put them in CLR Rust Remover over night and scrub with steel wool all the rust will come off. Outer rims Just sand them to get therm evened out. and you will in crease it's value. CLR you find in local supermarkets.

DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL ON LUGS!!! You will put micro scratches into them which can never be removed.

Thanks to you both for your info on cleaning the drum... I'll try everything but use a substitution for the steel wool. :)
