Need help identifying vintage Ludwig Standard Bassdrum Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

hello,

i'm new here and signed up because i am trying to correctly identify this old Ludwig Bassdrum i have which i am currently selling on ebay. I just wanted to provide a bit more info for the listing on ebay but am finding it hard to hunt down details for this particular drum. For example i'm not sure about the color, i thought it was Blue Oyster Pearl but i see a lot of pictures on the web of Blue Oyster Pearl and none of them looks like mine ... so i'm confused

i also wanted to know if the drum is all original or if some things have been modified or replaced over time ... to me and another friend who's a professional drummer who loves Ludwigs but also not an expert the thing looks, feels and sounds authentic.

But i thought i'd better ask here since you guys seem to be very knowledgable about these things.

I hope it's ok if i post the ebay link which has all the images here instead of the sales section ?

Thanks for any help with this

oh great, thank you very much !!!

so i'm a bit confused as to the date, from this list: http://www.ludwig-drums.com/features/hoamld/serialnumbers.php it should be a 1965 build but on the vintage drum guide it says:

"If you are trying to figure out the serial number with a Ludwig serial number dating guide, it will not work. The Standard drums do not fit the serial numbers."

hard to tell from the catalog pictures ...

ludwig standards had serial numbers of their own. many of them correspond to 64-65 with the conventional ludwig badge sequence. but, you just have to ignore that. they were made 68 ish to 72-73.
