Hello oldie,
Here is a link to the vintage drum guide:
http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/
This guide has plenty of information on Slingerland and Japanese drums.
The Slingerland drum was likely made before 1960 if it says Chicago, with few exceptions.
Pictures would be best, email me at and ill post them to the thread.

So who made that Regency? I've never seen those lugs or strainer on any of the MIJ stencil kits I've come across.
Mike
Slingerland ran the parade drums like these, (King or Legion Heir) for quite some time. Although I can`t see the badge well it looks like the first black badge from 59/61 but I can`t see it well enough. (it had the larger grommet)
The thing throwing me for loops is it looks like a six lugger and then it`s outta my slingy league.
Does anyone know anything as to these two drumsany information would be greatly appreciated. oldie
The Slingerland drum was built from 1955-59, looks like the gold dog tag badge from the photos. Marching drums aren't rare in most cases as they were built for school marching bands.
Searching ebays sold listings they fall anywhere between $40-$150 (shipping not included) depending on condition, diameter and hardware. I might start at $99+ shipping. Its your call though.
I don't know anything about the Regency drum. Made in Japan (MIJ) drums do not command the same value as US made drums. The White pearl looks good and the hardware is unique I guess. Maybe $40-65??

+1.That badge was used between 55-59,right before the black and gold badge.Marching drums like that are very common and go for aroung 100-150 tops in pristine condition.Beverly drums were actually made in England and are of decent quality up there with Ajax and student level Premier.Neither is particularly desireable or collectable but make great players.
