if you do a search on ebay right now for ludwig 20 head, there is a head listed that has the ludwig block logo up top and the 60's insignia on the bottom. this would be great for the 69 kit. this same head is shown in the 1968 ludwig drummer magazine.

Thanks Mike. I did see that one, but was under the impression that a '69 head could have either the 60's or 70's logo up top, and liking the 60's style better was on the look out for one of those. Am I wrong though? Were they using the 70's style logo from '68 onward? If so I'll buy that head asap. Thanks.

there has been a lot of discussion in the past about this type of head. i always thought that it was indeed a transition period head. got some proof recently. ludwig drummer vol 8 no 2(1968) on page 20 shows the drummer from vanilla fudge. his kit has a block logo up top on the reso head and the 60's stuff on the bottom. then on page 25, there is a ludwig ad that shows a kit with the block logo on the bass head and the ludwig drum co logo for the ad is also the 70's style block logo.

i think this type of head would be perfect and correct for 69. neat stuff!

Yep it is a transition head! I have one I took off a one owner Psych Red 1969 kit. I got the kit and took off the heads in 1986. The head has both logos and is DEAD MINT. Ill sell it.
