New Club Dates now on sale!...oops $830
New Club Dates $850 Last viewed: 3 hours ago
Let me guess.........MIC
Made in China........
And that's just for the drums, no hardware but the legs for the bass and floor and the rack tom mount!!
There should be a disclaimer at the bottom of the page where it says:
Historic Fact:
The Club Date kit originated as a lower-cost alternative to Ludwig’s original Super Classic Series. Debuting in 1962, Club Date featured the same shell as Super Classic, but the center-mounted, dual-sided lugs required less manufacturing time.
However these are imported drums and feature 6 Ply Cherry / Gumwood Shell
I still think they sound great and I'll buy the Jazzette when things calm down in a while.
i'm excited about the new clubdates. but i bothered me when i first read that 62 reference somewhere else. clubdates were around before 62. dont know who did the research for that.

Yikes! That's quite a price tag. For that kind of dough I'd rather buy the real thing. What's the shell construction on these?
6 Ply Cherry / Gumwood Shell
Rounded dual 35 degree bearing edge
I owned a Mod Orange Retro LE that had those cherry/gumwood shells. Those drums sound GREAT. I was surprised at how good they sounded. Vintage warmth with modern volume and projection. Nothing 'muddy' sounding about them at all. If Ludwig is using the cherry/gumwood shells on this line, without hearing the new kits, I can tell you these are going to be some terrific sounding drums.
$850. introductory price sounds about right to me. They picked a price-point right in the 'intermediate kit' range. Good on Ludwig. Somebody over there is really starting to 'get it.'
I want one!
* Mike is correct, I owned a 59' clubdate kit and there are older ones around.

I sold a 1965 Oyster Blue CD kit recently for $750 in 20,12,14 sizes......needed around $100-150 to make perfect....no extra holes........
so,for around the price of a new kit made in China,I sold someone a rare finish kit in very good + condition.
Which would you rather have?
