Hello, I have been a drummer for years... I just "upgraded" my old set to a new Sonor set. This is my first brand new drum set ever.
Anyway, I have this old kit and was hoping to get some info. I got it somewhere around 1988 and it has remained the same as the day I got it. (It was used and old then).
It appears these used to be some dual headed toms and the bottom holes were filled and the shells wrapped to make these beautiful concert toms. The 8 and 10 look to be homemade. The snare actually is cool (just need some snares, they are currently duct taped.)
The bass sounds good, the hoops don't match and there are claws from a slingerland on the front.
My plan is to remove this wrap and hopefully the paint in the inside of the shells. drill out the plugs for bottom lugs, cut new bearing edges, stain the set so I can see the grain. I was going to powdercoat the lugs and hoops black.
Here is a link to some pictures.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Information about my plan. Should I or do I need those tone control things?
