New Guy Here! Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have been looking for a vintage set for some time now and have finally decided to jump in ( maybe a bit to fast!!). Way back when, I started on a round badge Gretsch that my father bought me for $300.00 from some guys basement, Immaculate condition! I later traded those for a Ludwig Rocker II set that I thought looked much cooler and newer!! Of course as the years have past and I have grown "wiser" the thought of that is just about unbearable.

I have recently purchased an 18'' Slingerland BD shell and the matching 12'' Tom shell. Both of these drums are supposed to have been manufactured in Shelbyville due to their oak rings. Neither drum has badges and the tom was never drilled for a vent. Does this sound plausible? I realize I should have asked this question before I pulled the trigger on Ebay but I was hypnotized by the blue sparkle! Will I have trouble finding a matching "Shelbyville" floor-tom? And just how "rare" are these drums? The seller seemed pretty legit and so far I'm inclined to take his word.

From the home work I've done so far it seems that this would have been part of a "Stage Band" set.

I will enclose pictures as soon as they arrive so you guys can get a better look at them. Thanks for any input and I'm staying cautiously optimistic!

The floor will be a tough one to find ... but, if you don't restrict your search to Shelbyville, you will find one toot sweet. There is a pretty good supply of blue sparkle floors out there. Be careful on the dates because the blues varied a bit over the years. Good luck and welcome.
