Hello Folks

IVe been reading all your informative posts and decided to join up. Ive made a deal to buy these drums which I have yet to see in person. This is the only picture the guy had of the drums and they are in a storage unit so no new info till i pick them up tomorrow. My uneducated guess is Slingerland, Maybe some of you experts could examine the pic and give me a better idea. Im picking them up tomorrow so The mystery will be over but im dying of curiosity. And the reason Im buying them without seeing them is that he was only asking for a hundred dollars/ Ill take my chances

Any help or guesses would be appreciated Thanks

Pete

The picture is pretty small and low res. They could be Slingerland, as it looks like an oval shaped badge. Problem is, many japanese drums also had oval badges and Slingerland look-a-like lugs so from from 30 feet away... hey, must be a Slingerland.

Either way, as long as they are not completely trashed, you can't go wrong for $100.00.

Let us know what they are!!

HI Guys

Just picked them up- Slingerlands! 20, 13, 16. Snare is 8 lug with zoomatic throw/Niles Black and brass badges, the 13 has the chocolate milk looking interior but looks like it was made yesterday when i took the head off. Really dirtyon the outside but thats fixable. No floor tom legs or bass drum legs but the mounts are intact. The front bass drum hoop is cracked and beyond repair, other than that, they look pretty good. Does anyone know this finish? Im guessing its gold satin flame but i dont know if Slingerland had another name for it. Quick question is there anything to be careful about when cleaning COB hoops? THanks

I'm sorry Pete... but I hate you.

Oh man, major score there!!!

Congrats on that one.

I would say yes to the Gold Satin Flame finish - Looks like it to me.

Also, those floor tom leg mounts, if in good condition, are worth more than you paid for the kit. Don't sell them and keep a close watch on them at gigs ;)

You might come back from a break and find your floor tom sitting "on the floor!!"

Clean 'em up and lets see some pics!!

Thanks! I'll accept your hatred. HA Ill keep an eye on the mounts theyre in great shape just covered with crud. The insides of each of the drums are pristine I dont think the heads have been off much, if ever . The bass drum heads appear to be original/ Rust and crud on the tension rods and lugs but i can handle that

That (is) will be a beautiful kit.. I use windex on my Satin Flame kit but I hear Scrubbing Bubbles and a VERY, VERY soft brush is the best way to go on this finish. Satin Pearl Flames are very easily scratched and sometimes spider web from the lug holes. The finish will hide a lot and they look awesome under any kind of light.

Looks like it was called Gold Satin Flame Pearl or Gold Satin Pearl depending on the year.

Nice purchase you really scored for $100!!

Get her cleaned up and get us a good picture out here to look at!

Not a Guru... just interested..

Thanks for tip on the scrubbing bubbles jim

The other thing i noticed was that the bass drum felt is pristine except for the flaps that are outside the drum. The washers and hardware on the inside of the drums look brand new, The edges are fine and theres no delamination or warpage. This could be really good. Ive never played a 20 inch bass drum though. Thanks, guys , for your help
