Hello.

I recently acquired a mid-60s Rogers drum kit. I'll be the first to admit, I am not really up to speed on Rogers stuff. I have rebuilt a couple old Ludwigs kits, but never a Rogers. Please bear with me as I am sure I will need some guidance.

It appears to be a mismatch of several different years through the 60s. I believe they are all of the Holiday series. The wrap has been removed as have the name badges. The Rogers decals are still inside the shells.

A little more info... All the drums have beaver tail lugs. All hardware is Swivomatic series. The only Rogers hardware it came with are the floor tom legs and the Swivomatic tom arm (in not-great condition).

My main questions are: what kind of cymbal stand, hi-hat stand, and snare stand would have come with this set? Pictures would be incredibly handy.

I would also like to re-wrap the kit since right now all I have are bare shells. I am not necessarily going for exact authenticity due to the fact that the different year drums already have me mixed up and also lack of funds and time. But, if I can get it as true to period as possible, I would be very happy.

Thank you for any help and I am sure as the process continues I will be asking many more questions.

If the shells look good together grainwise you could always sand them down and finish them with tung oil,it is easy to do,and then wait and look for a great/close out on some period correct wrap, the two major standbys offered were white marine pearl and black diamond pearl. As for the hardware the swivo matic stuff was available from 1958 to 1976 at least.Don't know any current pricing. If the inside of the shell is flat gray it should be 1960 to 1966 if has paper tag should read cleveland,white/gray speckled interior makes it 1967 to 1979 if tag present Dayton is 1967/68 fullerton 1969 1971, fullerton 9/72 from 1972 thru 1975.

Pics or it never happened. When evaluating a set for restoration, pics are absolutely necessary. Nothing means anything until there are pics.

I spoke with the previous owner yesterday. He said the floor tom was a 65 or 66, the rack was (probably) a 68, and the kick was a 1970 or 71. He assembled this kit when he was playing all over the country and it was definitely used A LOT. Over the years, he replaced stands with heavy duty stuff from Pearl and Yamaha.

Anyway, I will get some photos over the weekend. I will make sure to get up close photos of the interior tags.

Thank you all for your help on this project.
