I can see where this can be helpful.

When I bought my Vistalite set in Late 1976 original from factory it came with a Supra w/ serial# 1556774. cannot remember exactly when I ordered them but I know I have a picture of them from a gig in Dec of 1976.

The rest of the set was consecutive serial numbered.

1581807 8x 12 concert tom

1581808 9x 13 ct

1581809 10x 14 ct

1581810 7x 10 ct

1581811 16 x 16 ft

1581814 16x 18 ft

1581815 14x 24 bd

1581816 14x 24 bd

with the 2 12 x 15 (1581812) and 14 x 16 (1581813) ct's went missing in delivery and never were found. Still makes me cry. Wish I could find those babies. You never know.

with the refunded money I purchased the BB which had a serial # of 1585923 which is a little after the one you have recorded in your database. but somewhere in between the supra and the vista's.

thanks for the info.

I have more numbers to throw at you, but let me know how you would like to recieve them.

I don't know if this is good news or not, but I have record of a 16" floor tom with serial number 1581813 having been listed on eBay in May of 2013. It was a black vistalite drum being sold as part of a 12/13/16/22/Supra set.

I checked through the seller's completed auctions and did not see that this set was sold. Perhaps you can contact them and see if they still have it. I PM'ed you with the auction link and the seller's name. Good luck.

I just received the guide in the mail and it is great! Finally a definitive resource that clears up a lot of ambiguity. I was also surprised to learn how far off I was with my estimation of which year one of my kits was from.

Thanks for the kind words. I would not go so far as to claim that it is a definitve resource, but it should help to shape the discussion to one based upon fact and not just the legend and lore of vintage drums.

Well said, Rick! Thanks for doing this. I am telling all my drummer friends to go buy it. I will also be sending in some data from my humble collection. How do you prefer to get the data?

I will take the data however you want to provide it. There is a form in the back of the paper. I need to update the form at the website but it works. You can also just email me a list of the relevant info.
