New Microsensitive strainer Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Does anyone have experience with one? I recently purchased one and was wondering what if any parts do I re-use from my old strainer?

I purchased mine from Steve:

From what I gather there is perhaps just a washer I could re-use from the old strainer. The style of the spring on the new strainer is different and does not fit in the sleeve of the old one. Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,

Manny

The one Steve sells is an improved design and direct replacement. Take off the old, put the whole thing in a box and install the new. It even has the push button release on the throw-off arm.

This looks like an excellent option, as a replacement. Tell us how it works for you.

I've had one for over a year and it works great. No need to reuse any parts.Just take your time and go slow putting it on. If I remember right I had trouble when I first tried to put it on. I put it aside came back to it later and got it on pretty quickly. I think the new ones work much better than the old ones.

I've got two of them on drums. I don't recall using any of the old parts with the new one, everything I needed was included.

These work great and made me realize that the original concept was valid but that the originals just hadn't held up well in past 40-50 years. The new one does have some improvements too such as the locking lever.

I have that repro strainer installed. No vintage parts needed.

I realized that lock is the only thing what old microsensitive

should have improved.

Thanks everyone! I am putting this on my 4160 COB snare that cleaned up really nice. For some reason out of the entire round badge kit this particular drum really got me excited. This is the first metal snare (COB) that I have owned in over ten years.

I never really used the old strainer so I can't provide much feedback. The new one is a very nice unit for sure.

Just put the new strainer on my 4160. You will need to re use your old screws or get shorter ones to hold the unit on a non wood snare. The length of the new screws will go too far.

I ended up using the old screws and the lock washers included with the new ones.

This bar is what the new screws will end up being pushed against if used.

You can see even with the old screws and lock washers that they almost also hit the bar.
