Unfortunately, I think it was worse than a router. These drums have not had bottom heads since 1972, according to the seller. As a result, the bearing edges are somewhat chewed up and flattened. Not sure if they will clean up or not. One of many challenges.

I plan on re-watching your youtube video regarding shell repair. I think 3 of 4 will need it.

Thanks

You'll need to fix those bottom bearing edges and re-rings before you invest in lugs/hoops/ heads/t-rods. Or, you can leave them alone and play them as they are. It'll always be a beater because of its condition. Besides, I think all the wear and tear it picked up over the years lends them some real character/mojo.

Too many great drums to list here!

Purdie,

Thank you for this comment, which puts my project into perspective...must resist the urge to over-restore.

I love this site cause the members find the coolest stuff and know how to treat it. I'm w/Purdie and never would have thought of it.

This kit has been rode hard and put to bed wet. :2Cents:

Most likely from transporting "rack tom-inside-floor tom-inside bass drum" packed into single bass drum case. Been there, done that a long time ago when all my gear had fit into a '78 Datsun B210 2dr sedan. I used lots of blankets though!
