New Trixon Snares Last viewed: 1 minute ago

From Purdie Shuffle

No mystery here... some jamoke put together a snare drum and simply added a vintage Trixie badge because it looks cool. Now, it's being sold as a 'Trixon' when the only thing 'Trixon' about the drum, is the badge. Somebody's little custom project that got out of the cage and is now running amok in the world posing as a Trixon drum. Identity theft...BS. I can put one of those together for (+-) $250. shell, parts and all. Got an old Trixie badge?John

John!...

Well, not exactly. Trixon Drums USA as an actual drum company is back, but under NEW ownership and manufacturing. I'll supply the hyper-link to the NEW Trixon website's "About Us" page. It explains all. That said... the drum offered up on eBay is one of the NEW Trixon models, and the BIN is $185.00. ( don't even know how they can build, market, and sell at that price point ) Perhaps MIJ/MIT? Here's the link: http://www.trixondrumsusa.com/about-us Regardless, a far cry from the ORIGINAL Trixon/Vox of the 60's!

I stand corrected! Bowing

>don't even know how they can build, market, and sell at that price point

Buy in bulk, use cheap labor. The real problem is for the poor bastards that have to sell all those sets in order for the company to show a profit. Otherwise, we get to watch Trixon die twice!

I saw the 'new' line. Hope it's quick and painless for them in the end...

Too many great drums to list here!

John!...

I've been aware of the NEW Trixon for at least a year now. I remember when I first saw the NEW line I said hmmmm.... looks like what Yamaha did with the Rogers name... which was very little to absolutely nothing! It's just a "name"... everything else that made the original is completely missing. Have to agree with your sentiment: "Hope it's quick and painless for them in the end..." Indeed.

Tommy,

I'm going to write those guys a letter and tell them that they're doing it all wrong. You're right, to musicians/drummers, the brand name Trixon represented a certain quality that everyone knew was built-in to the instruments - as well as being a brand name everyone trusted. Maybe if enough drummers yell, BOOOO! loud enough, they'll hear it. (?) As for Yamaha and Rogers... somebody over there had to know that if they revived the original quality of the instruments along with the brand name that it would eventually compete head to head with their own brands' top-line kits. Maybe they're afraid of losing that fight in the marketplace and belittling their own brand in the marketplace. Who knows why they went the cheap-o route.

It's a shame really, first Yamaha takes a dump on Rogers and now these 'marketing geniuses' are about to foul the name of Trixon. It's true... Money is the root of ALL evil! Violin

Actually, it's the love of money, not the money itself.

I think they are actually made in China. The cost of labour in Japan is far too high now ,for them to be kicking out drums of that nature at that kind of price. The very same drum line is being marketed in Europe under the name Dimavery and there is another Chinese or Taiwanese made line of very different drums being marketed in the U.K. under the name Trixon but with a different logo. There is no traditional badge on those.

Trixon was owned until his death, in 2000 by a longtime acquantance of Karl Heinz Weimar , named Arthur Oeschger. Weimar died a little later. In fact ,there was a small production of drums in 1997 and an attempt at rebuilding and in the 1980's Tama wanted to buy the company. It appears that the trademark is still legally owned in Germany but not so in other countries. That is why it can happen that Trixon can become a budget line of name and badge only. At least , Jim Labbs music has legal right to the name because they were Trixon Drums U.S.A. and apparently under agreement with Trixon at one time.

considering they were Ringo's first choice of new kit after the premiers but the color was wrong and ludwig just came to London with the right color so there u go....but then again that was 1963

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
