What is a "stencil" kit or what are stencil drums? I've seen the term here a few times and can't decipher it.

Believe it or else!

A "stencil" kit is a term used for the most part for the influx of Japanese made drums into the US market in the 60s. They were made primarily by either Pearl or Star (now Tama) and had numerous "brand" names, usually tied to their US distributers.
