Voting for Ludwig Silver Dots top and Ludwig clear bottoms.

Currently playing for loud rock and roll gigs:
1982 Ludwig Classic in white Cortex, 24-13-14-18 + Coliseum snare
For quieter gigs:
Early '70s Whitehall Tiger Eye Pearl 20-12-14-14
Neglected but thinking about:
Early '70s Sonor Champions in Rosewood, 22-12-13-16

WOW!!!! That is one awesome kit! I would use coated heads top & bottom for a real classic look.

That`s what I was thinking too...

Cheers

During my research to find more info regarding this kit, I stumbled across some Mach info...Here is the link to the catalogue pages in the Vintage Drum Guide...

http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/ludwig_drumsets_1970_flyer.htm

On the color swatch page are the custom order drum sizes...I believe that this must have been a custom ordered kit...All my sizes are there...

Interesting...

Cheers

I figured I should update this thread with some pics after the resto/detailing process...

The kit cleaned up nicely...I removed the Premier tom holder and mounts that were on the BD and RT, filled the extra holes and put the period correct hardware back on...There is some rash on the finish in areas, but, is minor...This is a great player`s kit...

I found a late 70`s, 6.5" x 14" Classic snare with a P87 throw to match the kit`s finish...It`s close, but, is just a shade off...

This kit was originally a Mach 5 because the 14 RT would have mounted on the right side to have the badge face front...So, I`m guessing that the sizes were 13-14-18-26 with a Super Sensitive snare when custom ordered by the original owner...

The BD and toms have coated Emps for batters and coated Ambs for reso`s...The snare has a coated Amb and a Hazy Amb on the snare side...

These really sing!! The BD and FT shake my house!! I am very happy with them...

Cheers
