That wrap is very rare, never seen it on a kent drum before.
1966 Kent Kit
1969 Ludwig Standard Kit
1970 Rogers Power Tone Kit
1970's Ludwig Vistalite Kit
1994 Yamaha Maple Custom
2010 Yamaha Maple Custom
28 assorted snares (including some real crap)
and 1 really nice K Zildjian Istanbul
Those are not really Kent drums. Just a Japanese stencil kit with a strange wrap and the name "Kent". This is what many refer to as "Asian firewood". Kent stopped making drums in the late 60's and became importers.
The auction ended with no buyer when he had it priced at $300, now he wants $200 but look at that shipping charge. $150, What planet is he on? I shipped a kit like this not too long ago for $65.
Oh Cooper! Asian firewood is such a snobilishous thing to say. Those firewood drums are sounding pretty good these days what with good head technology and 40 or 50 years of aging for the wood to cure. I just re-headed a set of them yesterday and was really blown away with how good they sounded. Every bit as good as my Slingys.

Sorry, but I wasn't being "snobilishous", whatever that is. What I said was, "what many refer to as "Asian firewood"'. Personally, I like old MIJ drum sets and I never use them as fuel. However, the materials used on Japanese drums do not compare to American made Kents, which were made from maple, not inexpensive plywood.

That's true, but the construction techniques, edges, and attention to detail in general on American made Kent's do not compare to the MIJ drums of the 60s-early 70s. So there's a tradeoff there.

That's true in many cases. Kent quality was all over the place. I've owned some that had great edges and interiors. Also, excellent hardware and overall construction. But then there were lots that were just terrible. Japanese drums are similar in that way. Some were really crudely made and others showed a lot of attention to detail. The maple wood versus the Japanese luan is a pretty big factor, though. Again, I really like old Japanese kits, especially with the exotic finishes.
That must be a Star stencil-it has the Rogers style tom mount combined with a toothed rotating part on the drum itself-and in Fantasia Pearl to boot! Funny the higher end mount top with the lower end mount on the bass drum end. That color is pretty collectable-
Those are pretty sweet for $200. If someone was close enought to pickup in person it's a nice deal. Wish I had the extra jingle. I go past there on my way to Cape Cod. flowers2 Those tom mounts are too cool. Yes very Rogers like indeed. Good stuff there. :)
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
