Wow Rich, good eye!! I just checked that seam at the bead and you are right, it is welded! I had to run my finger along it to feel any signs of it being welded and there are some slight raised areas where the weld is.

Talk about craftsmanship, that seam is almost invisible!

I am pretty sure that muffler is original also, so where do I get an extra lug to match??

Thanks again

Hey Kev, thanks much!Ok you Ludwig dudes, what do I have??It doesn't look like the shell was welded at the bead but the shell is pretty heavy. 10 lugs also, gonna take it all apart and give it a good cleaning. Any thoughts on value, not that I am looking to sell right now but I might be interested in a trade!

If it is a factory tone control installation then you are looking at 1932-1935.

Thanks for everyone's input!!

So, would this be a Black Beauty without the engraving and black finish??

Also, recomondations for heads and wires??

Yes, same shell as a DeLuxe (BB)....as a player: Evans G1 on top and a Hazy 300 on the bottom with 18-20 strand Puresound wires....back to original: Calf heads top and bottom with gut, silk-wound or James Snappi snares...good luck.
