I think what happens next is that we all get too old to have the vintage collections and our family (or ourselves) start selling everything off and the cycle will start over. Just one take on it. The big collections may start to be sold off after the owners of the collections are gone - it's the nature of things.
It's the same with collector cars, too.
Suspect quite a few 70's MIJ's went into the landfill when they didn't sell at the family garage sale in the 80's/90's. Still out there though. I've bought 2 Pearl kits a Tama Swingstar, and a Hoshino re-ring for the grand total of $320. Slingerland Gene Krupa COB snare was with one of the Pearl kits. All local CL and garage sales.
Have seen some mighty fine Slingerland kits here on the board and eBay that were Grandpa's, estate finds... Watch the local ads or place one yourself and something will turn up.
