non-traditional mounting Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Has anybody ued RIMS mounting systems on thier vintage kits? If so, can I expect any problems/issues when I assembsle my '54 Gretsch kit? Will they fit? ...13" rack tom, 16" floor tom. I really like the idea of using the RIMS system so I can get the most out of the drums...this will be a regular use kit, not a collector kit.

FWIW: I used a RIMS dynamount to bring my 13" rack tom down to the floor in order to accomodate a traditional "Low" ride.

During the process I determined that a few of the supplied parts did NOT work with the Camco leg brackets and needed to be re-machined. The vendor was EXCEEDINGLY responsive and exchanged out the original parts for new ones right away.

If you plan on doing this and have any questions, feel free to ask!

Rims are fine.. my suggestion would be, just make sure that the install is 100% reversable... that way you don't butcher resale value.
