I know this a VINTGE drum forum. I love this place. it's palace where I feel at home and comfortable with sharing, cussing, and discussing drums.
I love to read about restoring old tubs turning them into works of art and great sounding instruments. There is certainly a wealth of knowledge on these pages. We are all "pickers" at heart. We go to garage sales, flee markets, craigslist and eBay looking for hidden treasures we call drums.
The owner of a music store here passed away several months ago. His son is a friend of mine and gave me a 5 gallon bucket of miscellaneous drum parts. Unfortunately for him his Dad left the bulk of the store to his wife.
Well yesterday a friend of mine who does estate sales calls me and invited me to a early viewing of the estate sale of the Deceased music store owner.
Needless to say I sped over there to find piles of stuff everywhere. I dug through boxes and tripped over piles of stuff all over the floor. I see this odd shaped bag and unzip it to find a Gibraltar bass drum pedal. It looked heavy duty unlike anything I had ever seen. I bought it for $15 and left. I get to work and pull this lil treasure out of the bag and BEHOLD!!! THIS THING IS FABULOUS!!! I couldn't believe my eyes! There was no chain or strap of any kind on this. The simplicity of its design was mind boggling! The base on it is much longer that a conventional pedal. It is sleek, yet super heavy duty. I did some research on it and find it's a Gibraltar Catapult Linear Motion Bass Drum Pedal
