Not equipment snobs Last viewed: 1 hour ago

As a newer member, I just wanted to say that I appreciate the fact that the vast majority of members here are not equipment snobs.

There are discussions regarding every possible type or brand of drum, from MIJ stencil kits and other budget kits, to top of the line American, Asian, European, and Australian kits.

No matter what drum is mentioned, it is discussed without too much judgement.

Truly a forum for anyone who likes vintage drums, no matter what they are.

I'm glad I joined.

So true! I really like this forum.

We all share the great leveler; we all play, and love drums, and we all have a respect and affinity for vintage! Not only is there no gear snobbery with regard to the value or rareness of drums but also the amount of stuff. One guy has 2 or 3 vintage snares worth a few hundred, another has several 60's gretsch RBs and yet another has 3 buildings and thousands of drums (he says) and yet everyone is equal.

Great stuff - and everyone is willing to help with questions. It's a real community.

Feel the love baby! ok now I'm getting sappy!

I was into vintage drums by default, I simply could not afford nice drums when I was a kid. My brothers first kit was a Stewart bought at a yardsale for $20.

My first set was a pearl tom I got for washing windows, display casses and vacuuming at the local music store. Matched to a maxwin bass drum we found in an abandoned house, and a cb700 floortom. No snobbery here.

But I do know what you mean, just about anywhere else on the web, its all about posturing and talking big about yourself and belittling others.

Here's the only pic I have of my lowly first drumset.
