If there was a pedal beater long enough to reach the center of the head you would a need knee pad because it would be hitting you in the knee cap on every back stroke of the pedal.

And quite possibly a helmet!
"OK, I am going to need ten stage hands upstage center to move this kick drum. Then we are going to move it over and place it on the flatbed truck with the wide load banner as this joker is too big to fit in a semi-truck!""
In reality, you would need clear heads so the audience could see how cool you looked playing the biggest bass drum ever. (with your helmet and knee pads of course)
Mikey, to your original post, is this something you would purchase for rental purposes, for a specific personal music purpose or just because who doesn't want a 40" bass drum ("gran casa" as I recall from my symphonic days) in their collection?

If you think you can get a return on your investment in pretty short order then there is no reason not to get it. The question would be does this drum fill a purpose in your rental inventory that your others don't? Perhaps you just need the quantity of stock and a newer concert bass might be an appropriate choice?

The way i look at it,every year at Xmas time i always rent this size bass drum out for show's the vintage ones i have do show some wear and parts are getting harder to fine T-rods that is.This is a newer one and parts would be easy to replaced if need be..I get 75.00 a night and at in less than 2 weeks time it will pay more than the cost of the drum...Thinking iam just going to get it ....Mikey
