Took your advice and the kit sounds so much better now. None of the local music shops had the CS black dot heads so I went with some double ply clear Emperor heads and they still sound pretty awesome. A huuuuge difference from the pinstripes. Also, I did swap tensions on the kick front/back; it does feel better but the bounce-back is still a little awkward. Sounds way better as well, tuning them higher made the "boom" project more clearly. I'm sure it's just something I'll have to get used to. Thanks so much for the help!

I went from a 24 to 22,I think I lowered the beater a tad,not a big deal,but when I went from a 22 to a 20,big difference,I had to lower the beater more,and re adjust the spring tension and adjust the beater angle also,after that it still took a little getting used to,but it didn't take long to adjust to it.

I don't know about swapping tensions. The front shouldn't be too loose. But the batter head needs to be fairly tight. It should be very responsive to your pedal.
