My first post!! Hi guys, nice to be here :)
Question: I found this shell on sale on e-bay and I've been trying to identify it - more as a knowledge-test really, I don't even know whether the seller is willing to ship it to Greece (that's where I live).

Looks like a 3-ply shell, mahogany with maple solid rings, brass-black Niles badge (serial not visible), 6 lugs, Rapid throw-off, no muffler, no date stamp visible except the M stamp near the butt (I've read somewhere that 'M' stands for lacquered shell, is it true??)... According to my research, this means an early 1960s Student model - the only thing that bugs me is that there are no muffler holes on the shell. I've also read that tone control was a matter of preference back then - you could order your drum with or without muffler. What do you guys think??
Once again, nice to be here :)
