Older Stage Custom Yamahas Last viewed: 2 hours ago

A friend dropped these off for me to try to sell for him.

They're older looking Stage Customs - the only drum with a badge is the bass drum. They sound incredibley nice....suprisingly good tone....very solid drums. I think I put them up here (For Sale) a few months ago. No serious hits so far.

They are different than the newer Stage Customs I've seen (the lugs are different). The owner switched out the wood hoops for his mid-60's Gretsch drum. In 1971 or so he bought metal hoops for his 20" Gretsch bd.....these are what's on these drums now.........vintage metal hoops.....

If there are any Yamaha experts here that could tell me if these drums are worth at least $400 or more I would be able to confidentally pass that on. The owner says yes....they are worth more than the $400 he's asking. I have looked at new SC Yami kits .....5pc....and they are over $1100 in Canada but that's with new hardware. I do have one 9x8 newer Stage Custom tom and it too is solid and sounds great.

The finish looks original but there are some small flaws (looks like the paint has worn or 'small area skipped during painting of bd?). And, why would someone remove the badges?? The owner didn't - they were gone before he owned them and I asked the person that sold them to my friend a few years ago what happened to them. He said the drums were like that when he bought them years ago....and he did not repaint them.

So....are they worth $400?
