Opinions on "70's Ludwigs" price Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Hey guys,

I'm trying to determine if this CL find is viable. The seller states "70s Ludwig 4 piece, 22, 13,14 and 14 floor tom bass drum". I can't tell from the pictures if that time frame is accurate, the BD hoops and spur (what's left of it) make me think it might be from the 80's, am I off on that? Another picture that was included with the add made it look like at least the rack tom had clear interior with no RR, which also makes me think maybe it's NOT from the 70's. He's asking $335 for the four pieces, drums only. Is that a reasonable ask?

Thanks!

They appear to be 6 ply, early 80's shells.

335 doesn't seem high to me if the condition isn't too beat up. Maybe you can talk him down a bit too. Good luck.

From pics looks like late 70's 6 ply to me,with a later tom holder possibly.

I don't recognize the BD spurs, but I am not an expert on this era Ludwigs.

The 6 ply drums can be very good sounding.I think 335.00 is a good price even if there are permanent mods,as long as everything works.

The T-rods and claws don't appear to be original. The hoops might not be original. The kick looks to be 16-in deep. Still seem like a great deal to me. The 6 ply shells sound very good.

I agree with Mo Tonkie and confirm that the claws and T's are not original.

The bass drum spurs are the DW hoop attachment spurs.. The 14" floor toms

depth doesn't look right to me, and looks short to be a standard 14" depth with legs..

The floor tom looks like it might be a 12x15 as it doesn't look "square" (14x14). 15" floor toms sound fine but tend not to be worth as much as a 14x14.

Still looks to be a decent deal for the amount of money asked.
