I just attempted to ship a set of drums to a friend in Germany,WHAT A MISTAKE. Everything was broken down into a 24x24x 21 box.

Germanywill not except a box that big from USPS!!!!!!

Fedex-and UPS were both over 500.00. Needless to say I am keeping the drums until futher notice. Double check your countries shipping laws before selling over-seas...That Marti Gras set owner has pretty low shipping to international buyers. Before 9-11 I used to ship by seas all sorts of items,on the cheap too..MME

That is strange.... Isn't that the size of a box you need to ship a standard 22" Bass drum? I received one box like that last year, and one box 2 years ago from the US, both via USPS, no problems... They must have changed that very recently....

In August I was home in Baltimore and shipped my 1966 Kents to myself in Osaka. I had read on a forum post that 20" was the maximum that could readily be shipped internationally without running into problems overseas. The bass was 20" so I went and bought a 20x20x20 box at a postal store. I took everything apart and packed it as much as I could - shipped the metal parts in a second, smaller box and had no problems to Japan- that was the 3rd 20" bass drum kit that I have shipped that way from the US to Japan.

I had a forum member try to ship me a 20" bass drum kit in an old drum set box designed for a 24" and it was rejected at the USPS. Go as small as you can and just insure it well is my suggestion.
