Oyster Blue Fading? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Hi all,

I have the chance to buy a '65 Ludwig (13/16/22) apparantly in Oyster Blue Pearl.

They are the original finish, and the kit looks good to me, except for that horrible "updated" double tom holder.

The pics that were sent to me, shows a decent kit, but the wrap almost seems to have a green hue to it. Is this common in Oyster Blue due to fading etc?

The kit is quite a long drive from where I am, but I guess photos can alter the true look, so I guess it's maybe worth the drive.

I see many different shades of Oyster Blue in pics on the web, and I'd be using these as a "Ringo" kit in a Beatle band. I was hoping that they may pass as Oyster Black from a distance.

Can these Oyster Pearl wraps be "restored" to any degree?

Thanks

Phil

From a distance,..that will pass for black oyster, When a wrap yellows with time,..add it to the color,.. blue and yellow make green !!, Green and blue make dark brown !! I think it looks good the way it is !! I`m not sure about ringo`s hardware,..but someone else here will know, they`re pretty good about that.

Thanks for the response folks.

Yeah, never thought about the enviroment that they are sitting in. Looks cold to me. Hopefully they are just there for the pics.

He's asking $950 Canadian for the 3. I was thinking of offering $850 due to the hardware change and discolouration.

Cheers

Phil
