Not to be too naive here, but are we assuming that the two snare scenario would mean someone would try to pawn them off as vintage Ludwig snares? I have often wondered what percentage of vintage stuff has been altered in this way.

I wouldn't doubt it. I've already heard of floor toms being sacrificed for the wrap to use on snares...

By pulling the wrap off of it. It looks like there's enough gap from the lugs on top and the lugs on bottom to get a couple of snares.

In my opinion they'd still be fakes though...

Jason,

Not only would they be fakes, but bad fakes, no? The rewrap on the snares wouldn't be imbedded between the plies as they should be, so why bother mutilating a beautiful cocktail drum? Why not just buy Precision's or Jamminsams' Vintage OBP? I'm tempted to bid on this drum just to guarantee its safety. And I actually have use for a cocktail drum.

Mike...i really wish you will bid and win. this drum is way too nice to be destroyed just to make a few bucks. let us know if you do.
