Where does this line fit into the lineup, and are they a decent cymbal?..They seem rather rare and dont come up often
Paiste 101 brass series Last viewed: 5 hours ago
hi wayne, the early 101 was a nickel mix and wasnt a bad cymbal, the later cyms are brass and a bit iffy, both are student models, still wouldnt mind a 20 crash ride now!
I,d wager thier entry level cyms are quite decent compared to othersCool Dude
[COLOR="DarkRed"]Mmmm...talking about 2 different things. Wayne noted them as '101 Brass'...so those are brass alloy (copper/zinc). The older '70's 101's were NS12, as you correctly mention, Bishop. Once in a while you find a very respectable NS12 cymbal.....
Brass alloy are commonly just beginner cymbals...think Sabian Solar, the original Zildjian Scimitars or Planet Z's, Meinl Rakers, Cambers, or Paiste PST3's, etc.
Brass doesn't really have much going for it as far as sound and response. They are very bright, however. But cannot compare to an even half-decent B8 alloy.
