Pearl stock reso bass drum head-decent ? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hey folks..Just had a question regarding Pearl's reso stock kick drum heads..I just acquired one and haven't put it on yet..The series says Protone..Now if i'm not mistaken, wouldn't this be Pearl's name for their stock heads , like Ludwig's Weather Master heads ? I was wondering if anyone could give me any feed back regarding the sound and tone of these heads..? I bought it for my vintage Pearl President drum kit..I noticed that their dampening collar is a lot wider than Remo's Powerstroke and was wondering if it does make a significant difference, other than the fact that it will dampen overtones a little more drastically.. Bottom line, did i make a good purchase ?

Thanks to all in advance..

Cheers !

Hy

i had them once on a Trixon Bassdrum and it was not that bad!Yes Sir I needed a little towel roll(ala Simon Phillips:-) extra , then it was cool. To me it sounded a bit like a Remo Emperor head..not like it but quite close!

regards

Christian

Christian-- Thanks for the reply.. My bass drum head has the collar like the Powerstroke 3, only a little bit wider, so i'm assuming it will control resonance a little more.. I also just picked up a vintage Ludwig bass drum muffler which will look pretty cool with my kit, so that may help as well.. I will see what it sounds like first, then decide if i should buy it..
