For some strange reason I've been noticing several of these being offered for sale lately. Anybody ever play one? Are these actually "vintage" snares? Just wondering.

That's weird, I've been seeing a few of these things showing up lately too.

I would say it definitely does not qualify as "vintage"

Obscure? Sure.

Vintage? no way.

Back in the mid-90's I worked at a music retail store here in Boston.

We had a Peavey kit all set up in the middle of the drum room for what felt like an eternity.

I don't remember anything about how it sounded. In fact, my only memory is selling it at cost just to get rid of the stupid thing.

I believe the earliest of these radial kits came out in the 80's, making those ones kinda vintage......barely.

A lot of drummers,myself included, thought those drums sounded very good. Their appearance and bulkiness is

what did them in. All in all, a nice instrument. I recall them sounding very warm.
